We all have forgetful minds, but would you forget to check your Euromillions UK lottery ticket if the prize had been unclaimed?

An owner of a winning Euromillions UK lottery ticket let the prize sit in his wallet for nearly a month before he checked his numbers. The ticket was worth £1 million.

“Was I really now a millionaire?!”

This lucky chap was Martin Crighton, a 46-year-old groundsman from Boxford. He found the winning ticket stuffed in his wallet a month after the August 15th Euromillions UK Millionaire Maker draw.

Reading an article about an unclaimed winner in the area, Crighton immediately checked his tickets and was amazed to find the winning numbers. BBC writes that “his memory was nudged by an article about a “missing millionaire” from his area.”

The ticket was among old receipts and business cards. Furthermore, he went straight to his local pub- The Brewers Arms in Bower House Tye- to visit his friend. He wanted to check with Shaun Davis make sure his ticket was correct.

Shaun, 44, said that “You just don’t expect it to happen to one of your regulars”.  He continues saying “it could not have happened to a nicer bloke.”

Martin says the win “will take a while to sink in”. He bought his tickets from Londis store in Hadleigh, Suffolk.

As a self-employed gardener who lives in a rented house in Boxford, Suffolk, he plans to go big on a new home and holidays. Martin says he will not give up his job however.

“I love my job…so I have no plans to stop working.”

“He looked extremely worried for a little while [but] after a couple more Carlsbergs, he was very happy.”

Now Martin can buy as many Carlsbergs and lawn mowers as his heart desires.
