- May 2013 – The world’s largest single ticket jackpot was $590.5 million ($607 million today) sold in Florida. Gloria C. MacKenzie, 84, purchased the “quick pick” ticket at a Publix supermarket.
- December 2002 – Jack Whittaker of Putnam County, West Virginia, won $314.9 million ($419 million today). This set a new record for a single ticket in any American lottery.
- October 2005 – The West family of Jacksonville, Oregon won $340 million ($417 million today).
- February 2006 – A jackpot of $365 million ($434 million today) was won by a single ticket in Nebraska. It was shared by eight people who worked at a meatpacking plant.
- August 2007 – A jackpot of $314 million ($363 million today) was won by a retired auto worker from Ohio. That ticket was bought in Richmond, Indiana. Richmond had previously sold a jackpot winning ticket of over $200 million.
- November 2011 – Three financial executives from Connecticut won $254.2 million ($271 million today). The jackpot at that time was the 12th largest in Powerball history.
